Reducer socket to spigot
A socket-spigot reducer has one end the pipe goes into and one end that goes into a pipe or opening itself. That is how you connect two sizes that do not match.
What it is
A socket-spigot reducer is a round part with a socket at one end and a spigot at the other: the pipe slides into the part at the socket end, and the spigot end slides into a pipe or opening.
When you need it
You need this type when a pipe or hose has to go into the part at one end, and the other end of the part has to go into a pipe or opening itself.
- A dust hose on your saw or sander: the hose slides into the socket, the spigot goes into the dust port of the machine
- An old drain onto a new pipe: the new pipe goes into the socket, the spigot goes into the old drain part
- A hose of your workshop extractor onto a fixed opening in a cabinet or workbench: the hose goes into the socket, the spigot goes into the opening
What you choose in the configurator
You enter the diameter for each end and choose the length of each connection. One end is set to socket, the other to spigot. Then you choose the material: PLA, PETG, PETG-CF or ABS.
We only say a part is suitable for pressure, drinking water, gas or heat once we have tested that ourselves.
How to measure
For the socket, measure the outside of the pipe that goes in. For the spigot, measure the inside of the opening the part goes into. Measure in millimetres and use a caliper if you have one.
